As many of you who’ve been watching our YouTube channel for any length of time know, Paula is an Ohio gal, born and raised around Cleveland, and a graduate of the University of Akron (Go Zips!). She’s the oldest of eight children, the mother of one, our son Scott, and a very happy grandma to Mykie.
Paula’s career in Information Technology has taken her from the manufacturing world - automotive paints and undercoatings - to hospitality (on the Las Vegas Strip), to utilities. Some of the happiest memories were working at Luxor, and traveling up the Strip after work to catch Dale’s last set, when he was performing in the lounges.
Although she officially retired in 2023, she still works part-time on a consulting basis, as well as dedicating lots of time to the YouTube channel. When she has any spare time (what’s that, she asks), she loves to read, garden, and travel - especially if our granddaughter is the destination!
Fun Fact: Paula's college degree was actually in Foods & Nutrition! So, what better way to put her talents to use than to start a cooking channel? That's exactly what we did, in spring 2020. And then, 3 years later, we decided to feature her on a channel of her own. Check it out!
This wonderful and versatile dessert recipe comes from a cookbook authored by ice cream entrepreneur Jeni Britton Bauer. It features pears and blackberries...but you can substitute lots of other fruits as well. It was fantastic - and any ice cream will work, as the perfect accompaniment!
This twofer is perfect for a springtime brunch: a delicious and savory frittata, and a coffee cake flavored with apples and nuts. Give these a try, and let me know how yours turn out!
It's spring, and I just dug out my box of Easter decorations to put up around the kitchen. So many of them are counted cross stitch, that I did myself! I just love bringing these out of storage every year and enjoying them anew. I used to do counted cross stitch every day, believe it or not (in another life it seems lol), and I have many completed projects. I'll share more sometime, in future posts. Happy Easter, Happy Spring! ~ Paula
BTW...That little crocheted bunny at bottom right was made by our dear Pennsylvania pal Kathleen. If you'd like to see more of the adorable cuties she makes (and sells), check out her Facebook page: Crochet Creations by Kathleen.
